Living Colour was once one of my favorite bands. Cult of Personality was released in ‘88…during the glam rock days of Poison, Bon Jovi and the Crue. These guys were different though and I noticed it. They were almost a precursor to grunge and brought a talent level to heavy rock when it really needed it. Not to mention the fact that most black musicians were rap or R &B artists, not axe wielding, lyric screaming, drum pounding Rock Stars.
Watch this video and tell me this doesn’t get you fired up. Recorded in 2006, these guys have still got it…Vernon Reid shreds, Will Calhoun is a drum god (notice his drum sponsorship too) and Corey Glover is an amazing front man.
Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
This was my Friday Fun post, ya’ll have a great weekend.
I'm Jad. I'm married to a beautiful wife, live in the beautiful city of Nashville and have a beautiful life. First and foremost, I'm a Christian. Secondarily, I'm an attorney, a musician, and a big 'ol kid.

Is it just me,or is vernon WAY off in his timing on this video?
Its funny listening to their political/historical lyrics in an age of deep lyrics like “Girls Girls Girls”
Wow! What a great Friday Fun post. This song is seriously one of my favorite songs ever. Rock on Jad!
@ Jody: I guess I’m pretty dumb for not even touching on how Living Colour definitely pushed the “social justice” envelope with their music.
If I remember correctly, there was even a song about abuse on Vivid.
@ Jared: Kinda sounds like he’s off in the main riff during the verses but he always lands spot on. The Pre-Chorus runs that he does are perfect though.
Don’t think there’s a click on this one either. Just a hunch.
