IT’S A BOY!!! July 31, 2008

Yep, you read it right.  At Melissa’s appointment yesterday, we were able to see that our child is of the manly persuasion.

The doctor overseeing the ultrasound further stated (in his oh so Sweedish accent) that’s he’s BIG.  I’m thinking UT Football already.

I can’t wait.  My Dad is uber-proud.

To this point we were convinced that we were having a girl.  We had even picked out a great female name.  Now things are a little different.  As my wife put it when they told us it was a boy….”let the great name debate begin.”

So….as weird as it may seem.  Help us name our boy.  I mean, really we’re going to put more thought into than this BUT we might get some good suggestions.  In reality it might be just a little creepy to allow your blog readers to name your firstborn but hey, today is Thursday and so Thursday’s question is…

What should I name my firstborn son?

1. Jared Woodard - July 31, 2008

Dude, Jared Anthony Duncan. Still the same initials, but with a SUPER cool first name. Btw, if you use one of the names suggestions here, what does the winner get? You would have to take us to like ruth’s chris or somthing :D

2. bradruggles - July 31, 2008

Congrats man!

And you already know what I think he should be named. :-)

3. texasheartland - July 31, 2008

Congrats on the little boy!

4. Mark Thomas - July 31, 2008

That is fantastic! How proud you must be. I’ll give you a name that I was saving for my boy but my wife wouldn’t have it:

Ulysses

5. cortni - July 31, 2008

I am gonna think about this one for a little while. But I will absolutely let you know what I come up with.

6. Allison - July 31, 2008

I think you should name him Al… Al Duncan! Then when he becomes a UT Football player they can call him “BAD” – “Big Al Duncan”!!

7. Pete Wilson - July 31, 2008

Awesome! So proud of you guys!

8. annie - July 31, 2008

Slam… Slam Duncan. So excited for you two!

9. brandiandboys - July 31, 2008

congratulations! that is AWESOME news. So happy for you two.

10. Glenn - July 31, 2008

Yo, congrats on the Boy….

I would suggest “Bubba”, or “Butch”…that way he can also be BAD. You’ve got JAD, MAD, you need a BAD (and not Big Al Duncan)…LOL

Should NOT be an “S” name if middle is an “A” name, then he’d be SAD all the time.

11. DEb - July 31, 2008

Ezekial Jad Duncan… and call him Zeke… I don’t think Melissa will like that name… I don’t know what your dads name is, but he should definitely have some part of his name.. just my opinion.

BTW, TOTALLY CONGRATS!!!!!! :) :) :)

(I didn’t feel like signing in so you have my REAL name here…)

12. Jad - July 31, 2008

@JWO: I can’t name it JarED. That would hurt JarROD’s feelings.

@Ruggles: I know, I know. Actually Brad would give us the first part of the BAD initials.

@Mark: I think my wife would shoot that down as well.

@Allison and Glenn: Glad to see you guys finally piping up on the comments. Definitely like where your head’s at Allison. It would definitely be in honor of “Big” Al Wilson.

@Annie: If I haven’t said it before, Jad “Slam” Duncan was my alter ego when I was a kid. I totally idolized “Air” Jordan and wanted to play in the NBA. Fast forward about 20 years and some schmooze is using it as his “on-air” name on WSIX. I let that tidbit of information leak while in high school and now I still have friends calling me “slam.”

13. Shelley - July 31, 2008

We are so excited…I think he needs to be RAD
Robert Andrew Ducnan….so he can be RAD or BAD..

14. Miranda - July 31, 2008

Ok, just a suggestion:

Griffin

My mom has always wanted me to name our future child that if we have a boy. It is her maiden name. The only reason I wouldn’t use it is because it was her idea! But I like the name!

:)

I am so pumped and so excited about the little boy!

15. Margaret Meadows - July 31, 2008

I think that HE should be named after your DAD.

16. Adam - August 1, 2008

Congrats Jad..

I always like the name Aiden. We kept going back an forth between Aiden and Gavin. Obviously Gavin won.

17. jarrodmorris - August 1, 2008

Jacob Andrew Duncan

18. Iis Kusaeri - August 1, 2008

Congratulation!! I am happy to hear that, but I think you should think bout it with your wife, not other. I know the reason, but it is more proudly to give it by ourself. Especially first son.

19. Jad - August 1, 2008

Thanks for the suggestions. I love them all. If actually use one of your submissions we may take you to Ruth’s Chris.

Just as an fyi, I think we’ve picked out a first name.

20. Melissa (wifey) - August 1, 2008

I am not sure about this Ruth’s Chris idea unless you are saying your cooking tastes just like theirs. Just FYI, I think your cooking tastes better.

21. 5th Street - August 1, 2008

Jad,

I’ll take you and Melissa to Ruth’s Chris if you name the little boy 5th Street. There would be no one with his name :)

BA

22. melissa1970 - August 1, 2008

Congrats! That is awesome awesome news! I bet you are both so excited!

I have no name suggestions. Coming up with names for my children hurt my brain too badly to try to think of anymore! : )

Congrats again, and I sincerely pray God blesses the remainder of the pregnancy, the delivery and the sweet life!

23. Jared Woodard - August 1, 2008

@BA, if they named their kid 5th street,i’d take all 4 of you to ruth’s chris!!

Jad,its good to hear you settled on Jared,I think its a very strong first name :P

24. cortni - August 1, 2008

@ honey we have no money. Don’t make promises you can’t keep!

@jad hmm so I am thinking Joshua, Jonah (jonah and micah would be cute names for playmates), Jackson, Jayden, or Jansen. I know lots of suggestions but I went with the J theme so you could have another JAD!

25. Jody - August 4, 2008

Joseph A. Bank (Duncan)

26. Giant Idiot - August 4, 2008

Little late to this but congratulations on finding out you are having a boy. I would suggest naming him Seven.

27. Jason Monaghan - August 22, 2008

First off, it is not a boy it’s a Man Cub. And second you should name him Awesome or Hollywood, either one would leave him headed to greatness.

28. Jad - August 22, 2008

@Jason: I was thinking of naming him Ninja but I like where your head’s at.

29. Alan Binkley - August 25, 2008

Jad, congrats, man! Sue is a good name. Nuff said.
